BJC School Outreach and Youth Development programs are designed to meet Missouri and Illinois academic health standards. Students learn through discussion and interactive teaching by trained health professionals. Pre- and post-tests are administered with a comprehensive report for each program.
Students today face many choices - especially those related to what they eat. Eating habits develop early in life and often extend into childhood. A Registered Dietitian from BJC School Outreach comes into your classroom and teaches the importance of healthy habits in "Fun"tastic Nutrition. Sessions include visual demonstrations and interactive games targeting nutrition and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Age appropriate learning materials are provided, as well as pre- and post-testing for grades 2-5.
The six one-hour sessions address the following topics:
- Heart health
- Healthy snacking
- Digestive system
- Food label reading
- Calcium and bone health
