Life can seem like a jungle when teens cope with school, family, friends and a hectic schedule. The six one-hour classes teach:

  • Stressors in Daily Lives and Their Effects
  • Ways to Identify and Cope With Stress
  • Relaxation Techniques
  • The Importance of Nutrition and Exercise in Managing Stress
  • Communication Styles
  • Making (and Keeping) Friendships
  • Time Management

Show-Me Standards and MAP Skills addressed:

  • Define stress and understand the impact it has on their lives
  • Identify stressors and develop strategies to address them, such as managing time, understanding conflict and setting goals
  • Understand the role of good stress management
  • Assist students in maintaining health and achieving optimal performance
  • Develop skills necessary to reduce and manage stress such as good nutrition, regular exercise and healthy relationships
