intersections -- where middle school students learn life skills
At a Glance
- Audience: Middle School Students
- Goal: Addresses communication, peer
relations, conflict management and other
life skills
- Six-Week Curriculum Fee: $630
Middle school students encounter challenging
new experiences during these days of their
changing lives; these “intersections” might
require guidance and direction so students learn
necessary life skills. This program can be an
important part of comprehensive efforts to keep
schools safe.
The six one-hour interactive sessions allow
students to develop competencies in:
- Communication skills with peers and
adults
- Peer relations
- Self-observation
- Personal vision development
- Time management and goal-setting
- Self-awareness, self-talk and action
planning
- Communication styles and conflict
management
- Non-verbal communication
Show-Me Standards and MAP Skills addressed:
- Evaluate factors that influence
relationships and their impact on self and
others
- Evaluate the importance of effective
communication and listening skills in
building and maintaining friendships
- Discuss problems with a trusted adult
when encountering confusing or difficult
situations
- Solve problems related to managing
feelings experience during stress,
disappointment, separation or loss
- Recognize diversity
- Recognize the perspectives of others
