At a Glance
- Audience: Grades 4-5
- Goal: Addresses bullying and teaches
students the importance of communication,
friendship and other life skills
- Four-Week Curriculum Fee: $475
Getting along with others is essential for
reducing and preventing school violence, but
sometimes children need help learning how to
make and keep friends. This course helps
students to develop positive skills and
understand the impact of bullying behaviors.
Designed for grades 4-5, the four 45-minute
sessions can help make your school a safe and
friendly place for students to learn and play.
The course teaches:
- The definition of “bully” and the impact
of bullying behaviors
- Ways to handle bullying behaviors
without retaliation
- Friendship skills and ways to show
kindness
- How to admit mistakes and forgive the
mistakes of others
- Tolerance
- Communication skills
Show-Me Standards and MAP Skills addressed:
- Learn the characteristics of a
responsible friend and family member
- Identify and discuss effects of actions
toward people of different abilities and
characteristics
- Learn the responsibilities necessary to
be a contributing member of the community
- Work with health professionals to
address behaviors that affect overall
well-being
- Identify situations that may require
adult assistance
- Demonstrate appropriate ways to act in a
variety of situations
- Demonstrate ways to communicate care,
consideration and respect to self and others
- Demonstrate effective communication and
listening skills
