Career Camp for 7th and 8th Graders
9 a.m.-2 p.m.
July 21-25, 2008

Advancements in health care are occurring every day, creating new and exciting careers. Many young people aren’t aware of all the health care careers available to them, so we’re inviting 7th grade and 8th grade children to our annual week-long health care career camp, Adventures in Health Care.

Through hands-on, interactive activities, children explore adventures in nursing, radiology, pharmacy, respiratory care and health information technology. Adventures in Health Care Camp will spark their interest and could put them on the road to an exciting career in the medical field.

Adventures in Health Care Camp is held at the following BJC HealthCare locations:

  • BJC HealthCare in St. Louis, Missouri
  • Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, Missouri
  • Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Town and Country, Missouri
  • Parkland Health Center in Farmington, Missouri

Requirements to attend Adventures in Health Care Camp:

  • Children must be incoming 7th or 8th grade students for the 2008-2009 school year
  • An essay must be completed by the child
  • A letter of recommendation must be completed and attached to the application; a school teacher, school counselor or principal qualify to write the letter
  • Permission slip must be completed by parent or guardian and attached to essay
  • Cost of camp is $25, which includes lunch and activities throughout the week; make checks payable to the hospital at which the child will be attending camp

We accept a limited number of participants at each site. Acceptance is first-come, first-served, and based on the child’s essay and letter of recommendation. If accepted, the family will be notified by a mailed letter containing detailed information of the week-long camp.
