Students today face many choices - especially those related to what they eat. Eating habits develop early in life and often extend into childhood. A registered dietitian from BJC School Outreach comes into your classroom and teaches the importance of healthy habits in "Fun"tastic Nutrition
. Sessions include visual demonstrations and interactive games targeting nutrition and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Age appropriate learning materials are provided as well as pre- and post-testing for grades 1-12.
"Fun"tastic Nutrition grades 1-5
Six one-hour sessions address the importance of healthy eating, exercise, heart health, label reading, healthy snacks, digestive system, calcium and bone health.
"Fun"tastic Nutrition grades 6-12
Six one-hour sessions include the above with additional topics of body image and/or sports nutrition.
BJC School Outreach programs are designed to meet Missouri Grade Level Expectations (GLE) and Illinois Learning Standards (ILS). Trained health professionals teach students through interactive learning. Pre- and post-tests and evaluations are analyzed with IBM SPSS statistical software. Comprehensive program report and narrative are provided.
