Group health care career exploration allows high school groups of 25 students or less to explore and learn about both careers in health care that may be in high demand and general practice areas in medicine. Students' career interest areas are asked for in advance and the date and location are selected to align with the health careers pathway curriculum. Highland High School's annual visit to the Washington University Schoool of Medicine in St. Louis has become a tradition for BJC School Outreach and Youth Development over the past twelve years. Some Highland health occupation students have gone on to complete health career programs and become practicing health professionals. The job shadowing opportunities help students learn about careers of their interest.
