Teens are faced with many influences that impact their decisions regarding sexual behavior. Heart 2 Heart, a sexuality program, can help students by providing education and resources for making the best decisions regarding sexual health.

Understanding the importance of prevention education, media influences, and life management skills provides a healthy foundation for high school students participating in the Heart 2 Heart program.

Heart 2 Heart

 

  • Length of Program: Six (6) weeks
  • Audience: Grades 9-12
  • Goal: To help students learn about teen sexuality, positive dating and STDs/HIV

Session activities include:

  • Defining and understanding sexuality
  • Influence of media messages
  • STIs, AIDS, Teen pregnancy
    • Recognizing the impact individually and to society
  • Healthy relationship skills
    • Social, emotional and mental health
    • Communication
    • Dating
    • Impact of sexual decisions

Developed for students in grads 9-12, this course includes six, one-hour sessions with informational materials for each student. Schools evaluate learned outcomes through pre-and post-testing. Sessions are interactive, using materials designed to meet Missouri Grade Level Expectations (GLE) and Illinois Learning Standards (ILS).
